Where do I upload a video on the Web?

Instant Replay Sales Demo

By last count, there were several hundred online video sharing sites where consumers and businesses could upload a video on the Web, with more being added to the mix every week. Internet video marketing is hot, and it shows.

Of course there are the big players (aren't there always?) who dominate the playground. According to a recent list, the following are the main video sharing sites that dominate the food chain for video viewers and uploads:

  • YouTube
  • Yahoo Video
  • Google Video
  • AOL Video
  • Metacafe
  • Dailymotion
  • Blip.tv
  • Magnify.net

YouTube is accounting for about 66% of all uploads and views. But what's most interesting about this industry is that many video sharing sites try to differentiate themselves from the "YouTube" niche. In other words, they focus on building vertical niches around their video content. For example, a site like www.videojug.com focuses on "how-to" videos.

YouTube is still the dominant player, especially with its link into Google Universal Search, but there is still a strategy of putting your videos where your viewers are. Niche portals can be an effective place to get your message across to the right target audience.
