Search Engine Optimization Techniques
Website Analysis
At Fathom SEO, our seasoned team of experts will take a thorough look at your existing website, from the META data and visible text to the source code. We can help you create a more search engine-friendly design, with recommendations about graphics, flash and new keywords.
Content Optimization
Since the Internet is the primary resource for users to find websites, we can make sure your web pages are optimized with appropriately placed keywords throughout your text. Heading tags, inline text links and alt tags are just a few of the items that we focus on during the search engine optimization process. Our SEO copywriters can help develop new pages for your website to enhance existing content.
Sitemaps and Submission
To allow search engines to index your website, we create Google and Yahoo! sitemaps. Upon implementation, we verify that search engines are navigating through your website properly. For newer domains, Fathom SEO will submit your website to all major search engines, including registration on Google, MSN, AOL, and Yahoo!
Reporting and Ongoing Maintenance
Each month, you will have access to your own reporting center, allowing you to view up-to-date rankings on all keywords in your program through the major search engines. For a closer look at Google, we include a case study that compares your rankings from month to month. Your website traffic statistics are available also. We can use your website analytics to examine search engine traffic and measure ROI.
Defining META Tags
This information formerly affected many of the search engine optimization rankings. It included a title, description, keyword sets and other information. Generally, search engines may include the characters in their search engine optimization criteria, but they don't display the description as in the past and the keywords are having less influence.
Meta Title Tag - A tag on a web page, located in the heading source code, that includes the title of the company, product, service or webpage content and may include keyword phrases as well describing the content of the webpage. This is not used by all search engines.
Meta Description Tag - A tag on a web page, located in the heading source code, that has a basic description of the site to help search engines rank it accordingly. However, not all engines use them for optimizing websites.
Meta Keywords Tag - Allows page authors to include a list of keywords they feel is appropriate for their page so that search engines may rank them better. This is not used by all search engines.
