Farewell Vanessa!
Well we now know that Vanessa Fox is leaving Google Webmaster Central to explore the world. No, actually, she’s only moving over to Zillow.com. But I wanted to dedicate this post to Vanessa for all the hard work she has done for us Webmasters. Yes I know there is a team behind her that helped and continues to enhance its offerings.

Webmaster Central gets better everyday. I remember the day when the news broke about the communication between Google and the webmasters: you would have thought they’d won a million dollars. Trust me, I was excited too!
In 2006 Google started to release tools for webmasters that would reveal little pieces of information about your website. It was very vague on what you could learn about how Google perceives or crawled your site but as Google matured, so did Webmaster Central. We were excited about the idea of the Sitemap program (Webmaster Tools) which makes your site more Google-friendly. Within this program you’re able to see how Google crawls your page, which pages returned a “404 page not found†message, and whether your site is indexed. The newest feature added is the internal and external links that Google sees may not be included entirely in the natural search results. Webmasters may even receive an email from Google regarding your unethical tactics that they have found. How’s that for a search engine?
Bottom line, Google is listening to our feedback and that is by far the best customer service you can get!
As we see Vanessa leave the GooglePlex, we will continue to see more improvements with Webmaster Central.
Vanessa, on behalf of Fathom SEO, thank you and good luck!

I second that, Beth. Good luck to Vanessa. I also agree that Google Webmaster Central is a great resource and can act as a model for Ask, Yahoo!, Microsoft and others. The information is getting better and I must assume this is because they are listening to our suggestions.
