Doctors, Take Note. Social Media Isn’t Just for the Kids

By Paul Richlovsky | August 13, 2008

"Let's talk."

"Let's talk."

Prominent physician blogger Dr. Rob has recently posted his 6 Rules for Doctors. These rules help doctors get along with patients.  I’m going to help doctors find other doctors with whom to get along and exchange ideas.

Keeping with the “6″ theme, here are 6 excellent doctor social media websites that provide online platforms for doctor networking, professional discussion, and even video-sharing:

6 Excellent Social Media Websites for Doctors

  1. Sermo
  2. DoctorsHangout.com
  3. Tiromed
  4. RelaxDoc.com
  5. SocialMD
  6. The Doctor’s Channel

Live in an isolated rural community?  No specialist colleagues nearby?  As long as you have an Internet connection, there’s no excuse for any doctor not being able to tap into the wisdom of peers.   Unless, that is, they’re too shy.

This is true. All professions seem to have sites devoted to social networking now.

A lot of people are turning to the internet for healthcare answers. It is important for medical professionals to have a presence there. Especially since the internet is full of false health information.
