Taking A Gamble On Online Video Search

By Jim Kukral | October 16, 2007

That’s pretty much what we did here at Fathom, as you can read about in our press release that went out this morning.

Chasing Google’s Tail & Gambling on Online Video Search

A brand-new digital video production facility pays off for an SEM company keeping up with Google’s blend of video results within its search engine listings.

Cleveland (PRWEB) October 16, 2007 — Several hundred thousand dollars were spent to create a video studio - complete with state-of-the-art cameras, lighting equipment and editing stations. An entire staff of employees was hired to run the operation. … All before a single customer was brought on to help recover costs.

When online dominator Google gobbled up YouTube for $1.65 billion, it was online video’s tipping point. Everyone in the search engine marketing business - including Fathom SEO - was forced to reevaluate the future of search and the place online video would have in it.

“Google has made it perfectly clear. Video is a major part of their strategy, and although they haven’t begun to officially integrate videos into all of their organic search results, we are gambling that they will very soon,” said Bill Fox, president of Fathom SEO, a Top 20-rated Internet marketing firm based in Cleveland.

The SEM company recently launched an Internet Video Production division called Instant Replay to keep up with the burgeoning demand for web video marketing. With its brand-new, state-of-the-art video production facility, Fathom SEO can now script, create, produce, edit and market videos for companies to place on their websites to boost sales and generate publicity.

We’re pretty excited as you can tell in this video.

So, did we roll the dice correctly? What’s your views on video search?
