How Good Will It Be?
By Gary Thomas | September 26, 2007
A recent Article at ZDNet News by Ina Fried, “Microsoft leaks its own search plans” pointed out that Microsoft plans on unveiling it changes to Live Search. The blog was leaked by program manager Akram Hussein:
In a blog posting on Thursday, Windows Live program manager Akram Hussein demonstrated how the revamped Live Search handles searches for digital cameras, showing not just product details, but also reviews. The new search scrapes details from other sites that have user reviews and other information and presents it from within the search engine.
Before the post was taken down, Ian mentioned that Liveside.net managed to capture and detail his blog.
In his blog he had mention the improved video search. You will now be able to view the video first before you go into the link to try it out on the site.
“You can preview videos online by moving your mouse over any video and it will play a preview of the video right away no delays!” he wrote. “Isn’t this amazing, at least now you can preview the video before really going and trying to view it, and make sure this is the one you want.”
He also went on to say how some of these changes are starting to filter into the current Live Search. This probably explains all the erratic behaviors we have seen in the rankings. It seems like every day MSN is trying to improve or fix something to compete with Google and Yahoo.
Right now it’s hard to predict MSN rankings. The traffic just doesn’t measure up to Google or Yahoo! MSN, I wish you luck and please stop messing with my rankings!
